SELECTMEN'S MINUTES: DECEMBER 30, 2002
Present: Frank DiFruscio, Chairman and Scott Hayes, Selectmen
Visitors: Edward Dubie Fire Chief, Ken Crowther, Jay Henry, David Shedd
1. The Minutes of the meeting on December 16, 2002, approved as written.
2. The Summary of Payments was reviewed and checks were signed in the amount of $8,738.94
3. The Financial Resume indicated an amount $243,247.63 in the general fund after tonight’s vouchers.
4. Deposits in the amount of $560.60 were transferred to the treasurer tonight.
5. Edward Dubie, Fire Chief and several members of the Jackson Fire Department attended the meeting. Members of the fire department have been investigating the cost to lease purchase a new fire truck. The advantage would be purchasing the truck this year at a lower cost than next year. There was discussion concerning an increase in taxes. Scott Hayes stated the purchase of the truck this year would have to be cost effective before it would be considered. Members of the fire department will attend the selectmen’s meeting on January 6, 2003 for further discussion and will have cost estimates for the new truck.
6. Ken Crowther discussed with the selectmen shimming Rt. 16 B. Ken Crowther stated we did not use the money from the state this past summer. He would like the state to match funds and use it for Dundee Road and Carter Notch Road. Ken Crowther also suggested the selectmen write a letter to Dick Morneau Department of Transportation requesting the following year the state pave all of 16B. A letter will be sent to the state.
7. David Shedd attended the meeting to discuss transfer station issues. Mr. Shedd spoke with Paul, owner of Profile Truck in Center Conway, who will be going up to the transfer station to check the roll off truck for repair. There was discussion concerning the cars at the transfer station being used by the fire department for training purposes. There were questions from Bartlett concerning a limit of cars. Frank DiFruscio stated the cars would be removed once the training session was over. It was decided a limit of
3 to 4 cars will be stored there for training purposes. There was some discussion concerning the removal of tires, glass and using a glass crusher.
8. There was discussion concerning Shana Myers as an alternate member of the Jackson Zoning Board of Adjustment. There will be further discussion of this when Diane McClave returns from vacation.
9. The selectmen agreed to the request of using the town hall by the Drifters Ski Club on February 15, 2003 for race registration and bag lunch for competitors in a cross country ski race on the trails of Jackson Ski Touring Foundation. An application for use of town hall will be sent to the Drifters Ski Club.
